About Us

Bennett Custom Audio is me!

My name is Mark Bennett. I'm a lifelong musician, electrical engineer, and M.A. Music Technology grad of McGill University in Montreal. I've been tinkering with audio electronics for almost a decade, wrote my Master's Thesis on the Fuzz Face, and have been hand-building guitar pedals as Bennett Custom Audio since 2018.
I was born and raised in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada - one of the foggiest & windiest cities in the world, and home to the most easterly point in North America. The landscape is rugged and cold but stunningly beautiful, and the people are renowned for being friendly, colourful, and warm. Newfoundlanders have rich cultural traditions of music, storytelling, and the arts. Designing effects pedals is my own way of carrying on this tradition - by telling stories about this land and its people with each pedal. My goal with every product is to inspire musicians to do the same - to tell their stories, express themselves creatively, and to have fun - be it alone in your homes, or on the biggest stages around the world.
My approach to effects design is best described as "classic sounds, modern design" - no mythical transistors, fairy dust, or unicorn tears, just solid engineering and a careful ear for tone.
Each one of my pedals is hand-assembled and tested by me in my basement shop here in St. John's.

I hope you'll check out some of my products, and hopefully be inspired to tell your story.

Cheers,
